Mammooty joining again with Blessy

Blessy one of the finest director in malayalam now is planning a new movie with Mammooty. Recently he comes with Bhramaram and the film got good response from all over. Blessy who last worked with Mammootty in Palunku has now written the story of his new film Kayam, which will be scripted by debutant Viju Ramachandran and directed by Sebastin who directed the star in Maya Bazaar

Mammootty agreed to do this realistic film after reading Blessy’s story about a man who was working in Dubai, had to come back to Kerala after recession set in the gulf. Back home he has to look after his two daughters who are going to a convent school and has to complete the work on his unfinished house. In a nutshell, Blessy wants to show the plight of Lakhs of Malayalee workers who have been left high and dry by the economic turmoil in the gulf.

Now Mammooty is busy with the shooting of Pokkiri Raja and the movie will start its shoot after the shooting of PokkiriRaja.

Mammooty's latest Malayalam Movie 'Drona' Postponded to Jan 28th

Drona - the upcoming malayalam movie featuring mammooty was all set for the release. Earlier the movie was scheduled for jan 21st and at the last moment Shaji Kailas directed mystic thriller Drona- 2010, has been pushed to Jan 29.

The film produced by veteran producer M Mani and his Aroma Movies International, the longest surviving production house in Kerala. The film has Mammootty, Kaniha, Navya Nair, Vijayakumar, Thilakan and Manoj K Jayan.

Sneha once again the heroine of Mammootty

South indian actress Sneha has acted with our Megastar Mammootty in films like Thurupugulan in Malayalam and Aanandam in Tamil. She also had completed the bilingual movie Vande Matharam or Aruvadai with the star in Malayalam and Tamil respectively. She is currently acting with him in the film Pramaani.

The latest news to hear is that she will once again act with our Megastar in his upcoming film, Pokkiriraja. This film also stars Superstar Prithviraj and another south indian beauty, Shriya Saran. This new film is said to be the Vishu release from the Megastar. It is being directed by a debutant Vaishak.

Malayalam actors Mammootty and Mohanlal honoured

The most important news to hear from the Malayalam film industry is that both the supreme stars of Malayalam, Megastar Mammootty and Universal star Mohanlal have been honoured by the eleventh Asianet - Ujala film awards 2009.

While Mammootty bagged the 'Millennium actor award', Mohanlal was named best actor for his role in "Ividam Swargamanu" and "Bhramaram". The best movie of last year was the Blockbuster "Pazhassi Raja" and the best director award was bagged by Renjith for his film "Paleri Manikyam".

The other notable awards were that of Kavya Madhavan bagging the best actress award for "Banaras" and Prithviraj bagging the 'Youth icon' award for his various films. The award ceremony will be held on Jan 18.

Popular Malayalam actor Jagadeesh is now all set to direct a film by himself. Jagadeesh have earlier scripted for few films that were noted for their variety of contents and those films have assured him the name of a good writer. Chattambinaadu is the latest malayalam movie featuring mammooty in the main role. In a single word the movie is a useles one while considering the story part of the movie. And taking as an entertainer i will give my full support to the movie which provides some mindless entertainment.

Director Shafi has narrated a story which is a potpourri of films like Rajamanikyam, Prajapathi, Thommanum Makkalum and a few others of the similar kind, but certainly without much of the charm of any of these films, in the absence of a credible storyline!

For this Christmas, once again you have a movie plotted at a remote Tamil Nadu border, with all that colorful camera friendly costume worn dumb village people, two strong families at war for more than two decades, the entry of the hero to settle the war with some mysterious personal interests, the loud mouthed villain with that big moustache and another hundreds of regular features that you come across in almost all the hits of decade.

, the story happens more or less the same way, in a remote village originally called Chembattunadu as well. The rivalry between two wealthy families had brought in some chattampis (goons) from neighbouring areas and after a while, they took control of the village.
Chembattunadu soon became Chattambinadu. Vijendra Mallaya (Mammootty), who speaks Malayalam with a heavy Kannada accent, soon comes to Chattambinadu, after he buys the property belonging to Mallanchira Chandramohan (Manoj K Jayan). This enrages the wicked Kattappilly Nagendran (Siddique) and he begins to pose troubles one after the other for Mallaya. There are some local chattampis in the area, like Makri Gopalan (Salim Kumar) and Dasamoolam Damu (Suraj Venjarammood) that is meant to makes things more interesting.

Mammootty looks eminently handsome in his trimmed moustache and neatly cut stubble. He wears a white kurta- pyjama, white shoes, dark sunglasses and a red tilak on his forehead that makes him quite an imposing figure. He talks in a peculiar accent and the actor has taken some nice efforts to give the character some real difference. Mammootty’s punchline a mixture of Kannada and Malayalam is sure to become popular.

Vinu Mohan, who plays Murugan, is like a brother to Mallaya and the young actor has come up with one of the best performances in his brief career. Both the heroines, Lakshmi Rai and Manikyam Mythili, have limited roles to play. Siddique, as the menacing villain, looks fine but has nothing much to do other than what we have seen in some of his earlier films. Salimkumar and Suraj tries really hard, but they too have nothing new to offer.

It is the script that is the weakest link here and that is evident all along. The technical side of the movie is good, with every department doing their best to maintain the quality of a potential hit. Manoj Pillai's camera, and V Sajan’s editing are brilliant and the makers has managed to keep the interest going for the entire length of two hours and five minutes. Alex Paul' songs have good beats but won’t stay in our minds for long. The title song written by Murugan Kattakkada and sung by C J Kuttappan is the best among the three featured in the movie.

At just more than two hours and eight minutes, Chattambinadu may turn out to be a mindless mass entertainer. The film is worth a look for Mammookka, he is simply awesome and holds the film together. I prefer you to watch the movie if you are a hard core mammooty fan and you prefer entertainment rather than watching a movie which comprises a good story.

Kavya to do Mammooty' Heroine Role

Kavya Madhavan, the popular South Indian Actress after her divorce coming back to Malayalam films very strongily. After signing for Mohanlal Starrer Joshy's Chrisitan Brothers, the latest news about kavya madhavan is that she has been approached for Mammootty’s new movie ‘Pramaani’ to be directed by B Unnikrishnan.

This is the second time she has been doing the heroine role of mammootty, earlier She did 'Ee Pattanathil Bhootham’. B Unnikrishnan, the scriptwriter turned director who had been with some well made films like ‘Madambi’ and ‘Smart City’, will be for the first time teaming with Mammootty in ‘Pramaani’. He will present the megastar as Raghava Panikkar, the corrupt Panchayat president of a village who is forced to find his goodness by a Panchayath Secretary. Kavya is approached for this role of Panchayat Secretary.

Malayalam Movie ‘Pramaani’ will also feature Siddique, Jagathy, Innocent, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Salim Kumar in key roles. The movie produced by B C Joshi, in the banner of Surya Cinema will start its shoot by the first week of January.

Mammootty’s new look for Drona

Drona is the upcoming malayalam movie which features Mammooty in a new look. Shaji Kailas is behind this new venture. Mammootty has a God man like look for his new film Drona. The movie Drona is produced by Aroma Movies.

In the latest movie, Mammootty plays a Nostradamus like character Pattazhi Madhavan Namboodiri alias Drona. He looks like a Sanyasi wears saffron clothes, Rudrakshamala, jet black long hair and Vibhooti on his forehead. Bala, Vijayakumar and Irshad play his supporters in this crime thriller with three heroines Kaniha, Navya Nair and Shwetha Vijay are the three heroines in the film which also has Manoj K Jayan, Sai Kumar, Sooraj Venjaranmoodu in the supporting cast.

The film’s story and screenplay is by AK Sajan, Kaithapuram’s lyrics are tuned by Deepak Dev. Ace cameraman Ekambaram of Kanthaswamy fame is the cinematographer while Don Max is the editor. The shoot of the film has started from November 2 at Varikkaseri Mana, the popular location of Malayalam films near Ottapalam. Drona will be releasing in March 2010.

Malayalam Superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty Enter Sports Arena

After making many magics in the Malayalam Movie industry, malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty is now entering into the sports area to promote different games. Last week Mammootty who was a former volleyball player become the Brand Ambassador of Kerala Volleyball League (KVL) that is planned to be held from February 20 to 28, next year.

Meantime Superstar Mohanlal is all set to become the good will ambassador for Kerala athletics. As both the stars are in sports arena endorsing different games, there will be no competition between the two in case of sports. Mohanlal also plans to bid for a new Indian Premier League (IPL) team.

Box Office Collection Report: Mammootty's Pazhassi Raja crosses six crores

Mammootty - Hariharan - M.T Vasudevan Nair team's Pazhassi Raja is setting new record in the Box office. The movie after the initial storming continues to do a steady run in the theatres in the second week. The new record set was Pazhassi Raja is the first malayalam movie to collect five crores from theatres in just 9 days.

Also the movie Pazhassi Raja has collected forty lakhs from all the metro releasing centres in kerala. Last week the satellite rights of the movie was sold out for a record 2.60 crores by Asianet. This breaks the recordset by the Mohanlal Movie 'Sagar Alias jacky Reloaded'. At the same time movie will also be released in other languages this week.

Mammootty's Pazhassi Raja storms Kerala Box Office

Pazhassi Raja - one of the most expected movie of 2009 is blessed with all things- Good Director, Good Script Writer, Good Cast etc. The movie got released last friday in around 125 theatres in kerala. Ranjith and Mammootty coming with Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Kadha. Mammootty is doing a double role in this investigative thriller. The latest news about the movie Paleri Manikyam is that the shooting of the film is over.

The movie is based on writer T P Rajeevan's novel. Haridas (Mammootty), a private detective, is investigating the murder of a young woman, Manikyam, which happened over 50 years back. Manikyam was killed a few days after her marriage. Haridas is assisted by Sarayu Sharma (Gowri Munjal), a criminologist, in the investigation. The investigation into the killing was stopped at that time, due to the lack of convincing evidences. The other role that Mammootty is playing in the film is that of Ahmad Haji, a rich landlord.

Produced by Varnachitra and AVA Productions, Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Kadha will have a host of fresh faces in the cast. Also in the cast are Sreenivasan, Siddique, T Damodaran and Shwetha Menon. Manoj Pillai is the cinematographer and Sarath the music composer.

Hariharan, MT Vasudevan Nair and Mammootty, the people behind Oru Vadakkan Veeragaatha once again coming to rock the Kerala . Pazhassi Raja is the upcoming movie of superstar Mammootty who comes in the Title Role "Kerala varma Pazhassi Raja". The movie is telling the story of the king of kottayam Royal family of malabar Pazhassi Raja who is popularly known as the 'Lion of Kerala'. The movie shows the heroic fight between the Pazhassi Raja and British in the Wayanad Jungles during 1790s.

“The story of ‘Pazhassi Raja' one of our first, but least known freedom fighters, appealed to me also because it offered tremendous visual possibilities in the backdrops of the forests and the wars. We know about the high expectations people have on the film and are confident that we will be able to live up to it'', says the director Hariharan.

The British company then made proclamations which forbid people from supporting the Raja, threatening to confiscate the property of all who are supporting Pazhassi. In 1797 the Raja's men launched attack on the security personnel stationed at Pazhassi, and in continuous battles that were fought over three days, Pazhassi's men were able to overpower the British forces, using swords, spears, bows and arrows . With an army of thousands of Nairs , Pazhassi inflicted such defeat on the British that they were forced to retreat and negotiate. This forced the British to sign a temporary armistice, in accordance with Raja's wishes. ‘Pazhassi Raja’ once again revolted against the occupants when the British decide to take over Wynad in 1799, after the fall of Sreerenga Patanam. This time the British had an upper hand as they controlled most of the south. They confiscated Raja's properties and proclaimed a reward for capturing him. Raja who fled from the palace, took refuge in the jungles accompanied by his wife and immediate attendants.

Raja tried to continue his warfare with the help of aadivasas and his loyal Kurichiyar tribe. Using guerrilla tactics and informers, he kept the British on tenterhooks for longer than any other regional ruler. But on November 30 1805, the Raja was surrounded by Thomas Harvey Babar, a young British officer on charge of suppressing Pazhaassi and was shot dead in an operation on the banks of Mavila Thodu.

Besides the strong story line the movie also got the best cast and crew a malayalam film has ever got. Other than Mammooty the movie features Sarath Kumar, Manoj K Jayan, Suman, Jagathy, Thilakan, Biju Menon, captain raju, kalabhavan mani, padmapriya, kaniha, saikumar, suresh krishna etc. The crew of the movie includes T Hariharan, M.T Vasudevan Nair, Resul Pookutty, illayaraja, Venu (Camera man), ONV Kurup etc. The movie is produced by the Gokulam Group of Companies and other main thing is that the movie is shooted on a grant budget of 25 Crores.

In the movie Sarath Kumar, plays the role of Pazhassi Raja's trusted commander-in-chief named Edachena Kunkan. Kanika is the female lead and coming as the wife of Pazhassi Raja. Manoj K Jayan is handling the role of Thalakal Chandu. Lakshmi Rai is also coming in a guest role of Belgeum woman and playing a seductive role.

Another hot news is that Mohanlal, Kamal Haasan and Shahrukh khan is also being a part of this venture. They joined the biggest ever production in Mollywood ‘Pazhassi Raja’, by lending their voice for introducing the historic title character, in fact, one of the first freedom fighters of India. ‘Droner’ - Mammootty Joining hands with Shaji Kailas

Once again Superstar Mammooty and veteran director Shaji kailas Joining for a new movie which was titled as Dronar. This was after about 6 years they are working together and this movie will be the next project of Mammooty to take off after ‘Chattambinaadu’, which is currently on sets. The last movie they did together is Valyettan and was a superhit.

Mammootty will play the role of a brilliant Brahmin mathematician and astrologer in the film, a sort of Nostradamus whose prophecies come true, leading to the twists in the story. Kaniha will play the female lead in the film which has also Thilakan, Saikumar, Siddique and Manoj.K Jayan. The shooting of Dronar will start from November 1

The movie Dronar will be produced by Aroma movie, and the scripts will be handled by A K Saajan. Expected to kickoff its shoot by the first of November, the movie will be shot in and around Ottappalam, Chavakkad, Guruvayoor, and Chennai.

Pazhassi Raja is the latest movie which Features Superstar Mammooty in the central role. Mammooty is doing the title role of the movie. The movie Pazhassi Raja is considered to be one of the expected movie of 2009. Movie features the magical touch of the Mammootty - M T Vasudevan Nair - Hariharan team.

The movie features Tamil-Telugu stars like Sarathkumar and Suman in key roles apart from Padmapriya and Kanika who appear as the heroines of the movie.
